When the caster takes damage from flames, they can cast this spell. Half the damage is ignored and a quarter is absorbed as extra hit points.

Posted Dec 19, 2018You can also just say they take a quarter of the damage. because that's inherently what happens.

Posted Jan 6, 2019i think i would like this as a 1st level spell instead as a Cantrip seems kind of overpowered and change the wording to you get a quarter of the hitpoints after damage, to avoid Shadowteen20's issue which i agree with.

Posted Aug 14, 2019This is like absorb elements except it's a cantrip instead of a first level slot.
Recommend change: have it cost a bonus action, and use concentration, then drop the absorption part replacing it with a 1 turn duration.
This way if the caster feels this turn they may encounter fire damage they can cast it (so long as they aren't already concentrating) and it's like a shield that they can use against multiple fire attacks (they just have to maintain concentration for each).
Maybe a 5th level bonus where they can instead cast it on someone else.

Posted Aug 13, 2025I'm pretty sure that nets to no damage.
