You attempt to echo a spell that was cast by another creature within range. Choose one spell that was cast since the end of your last turn that has a casting time of 1 action. If the spell is of 3-level or lower, you can instantly cast that spell as if using a spell slot of the spell’s original level. The normal rules of that spell still apply.
For example, if a creature within range casts mage armor on itself, you can use arcane echo to also cast mage armor. Per the nature of mage armor, you cannot be wearing armor. If you cannot fulfil the requirements of the echoed spell, the spell fails.
When you cast this spell using a 5th-level spell slot or higher, the echoed spell can be of a level equal to or less than one less than the level of which the spell was cast. For example, if you cast this spell using a 5th-level spell slot, the echoed spell can be of 4th-level or lower
