A shimmering barrier of energy appears at a point you choose within range. The barrier is rectangular, and expands from its center to fill as much space as it can, growing up to 5 feet wide, 5 feet high, and 1 inch thick. The barrier lasts for the duration.
The barrier is one-sided, lightly obscuring anything seen through it, and providing half cover to any creatures in the space behind it, provided those creatures are medium sized or smaller. Any spell and weapon attacks that enter the barrier's space have disadvantage on the attack roll. The barrier actively opposes movement through it, and any creature that tries to move through the barrier's space must succeed on a strength saving throw. On a failed save, the creature wastes all its movement attempting to pass but fails to do so. On a success, the creature can spend 10 feet of movement to pass through the barrier.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can create a barrier up to 10 feet wide and 10 feet high that can protect creatures of large size or smaller, or four barriers of regular size. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you can create a barrier up to 15 feet wide and 15 feet high, that can protect creatures of huge size or smaller, or nine barriers of regular size.
