Damage/Effect
You reach out and touch the corpse of a creature. Over the course of the next minute, the corpse begins to rapidly decompose, sprouting fungus and moss as it begins to degrade into compost and mulch. An odd-colored flower or two may spring from the corpse in this time. Applicable requirements for resurrection are unaffected by this decomposition.
I assume this is the cantrip that Mercer gave Caduceus
This is definitely the cantrip created by Matt Mercer for Critical Role.
Yes it is! I saw the screen shot and wanted to add them to dnd beyond!
Wouldn’t this also work for a Circle of Spores Druid?
With the addition of the Circle of Spores Druid, I'm surprised more druid spells haven't been reskinned or reflavored to be more inclusive of that circle. With how little use Druidcraft has, I feel like this entire effect should be added to the Druidcraft spell rather than the be a full cantrip of its own rite.
That said, very flavorful. I know Matt didn't count it against the number of cantrips known in Critical Role so I'm certainly not critiquing his methodology for his game. But I'd rather be influenced by it in a different way.
So does this mean that the spell's true strength is in negating the need to hang on to a piece of the person you're trying to bring back? I mean if so, this is a fantastic cantrip and totally foreshadows the future of Critical Role Campaign 2.
A cantrip that prevents a creature from being revivified or raised from the dead seems a bit much. It's in essence desintegrating a corpse. Unless I'm misunderstanding the last sentence, which isn't clear to me.
The spell specifically does nothing about resurrection. A creature affected by this spell can be raised as normal
Hello, will you update the spell to be available to 2024 class ?
