Upon striking a verbal deal or agreement with the target the caster can use their reaction to cast this spell.
For the spell's duration the target must make a saving throw any time they attempt to, by their understanding, break the terms of the deal. They make this saving throw with disadvantage if they read the written document was used as the material component. Upon a failed save the target suffers 1d4 psychic damage, or half that on a successful save rounding up. Upon casting and as a bonus action on successive turns, the caster may choose to cause 2d6 psychic damage to the target. The repeating damage may be done a number of times equal to half the spell level this was cast with. However, if the deal was not broken then the caster must make a saving throw or take half that damage.
If the caster triggers their end of the spell due to deception or misunderstanding before the targets end of the spell has triggered, nothing happens and the caster is both aware that the targets side hasn’t triggered and may trigger their end for a second and final time upon learning of the deal being broken.
The damage triggered by the caster increases by 1d6 per spell level. At 5th level the damage die triggered by the target increases to a 1d6 and at 7th it becomes 2d8.
