Amanuensis

Originally created by clerics of Deneir, knowledge of this spell has spread among other scholars. Deneir's faithful seek to prevent it from falling into the hands of those who would use it to spread falsehood.

After placing a literary source (such as a book) adjacent to a blank book or surface of suitable size, the magic of this spell begins to copy it word for word. The quill pen moves with the skill of an accomplished scribe of superhuman speed while producing its own ink that never smudges or runs. Each minute, the pen copies one page of text or illustration, duplicating it on the new surface. The spell can copy magical texts (including spellbooks), but the copy produced is nonmagical and unusable as a spellbook. A successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spellcasting DC permits a viewer to determine that it is a copy.

Once the quill is directed, it continues until the task is complete or the duration expires. If you are within range when the task is complete, you can direct the quill to begin copying another text as your action. If desired, you can direct the quill to translate the text from one language to another as it writes, as long as you know both languages.

While working, the quill becomes intangible and continues to work even if a creature attempts to stop it, or if both books are closed and dropped into a container. Separating the source from the quill by at least 30 feet or destroying either text ends the spell early.
