The spell causes a 10’ square, 15’ tall immobile wooden watchtower with 2 levels to spring up around and above you from the cleared ground. The lower level of the watchtower has 2 arrow slits on each wall. The upper level has a 3’ high wall, and 4 posts at each corner holding up a wooden roof. A stout wooden ladder connects the 2 levels. When cast, the watchtower has a Medium-sized door on the wall facing you.  The door is immune to all magic and spells which open doors short of a Wish spell.

You can designate up to 7 other creatures (and their carried and worn equipment) of Medium size or smaller to freely enter and leave the watchtower. All other creatures and objects are barred from entering through the door. You can control the climate and light within the watchtower (both floors, independently), making it as warm, as cold, as light, or as dark as you want, regardless of the weather and time of day outside. Creatures within the watchtower’s first level have three-quarters cover while at any of the arrow slits, and have total cover otherwise. Creatures on the top level have half cover.

When cast by a ranger while on their favored terrain, the watchtower:

  • will become camouflaged to match its natural surroundings, giving creatures disadvantage on Perception checks to spot it,
  • grants the ranger advantage on Perception checks to spot their favored enemies. The ranger must be on watch at the top of the tower,
  • grants the ranger advantage on Initiative rolls against their favored enemies.
* - (A few natural items (wood, stone, dirt, etc.) from the placement location.)
