Your pray is cornered, and fear runs pungent in it's veins. Now to call your packmates, in shadow if not in flesh, to surround and move in for the kill. This spell may only be cast while you are transformed into beast shape using the Druid's Wild Shape class feature, and your form must be that of beast that has the Pack Tactics special trait and can make at least one attack.
You howl, and summon two shadow beasts in unoccupied spaces within range. The shadow beasts have the same game statistics as whatever animal you are currently transformed into via your Wild Shape class feature with the following changes:
- The Shadow Beasts have AC equal to your spell save DC, and a bonus to Dexterity and Wisdom saving throws equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
- They only have one hit point, but they never take damage from an attack that misses them or from an effect that they successfully save against.
- The bonus to their attack rolls is equal to your spell attack bonus and the damage dealt by their attacks is 2d8 piercing or slashing damage, depending on the attack. This damage counts as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance or immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
- Allies can move through a space occupied by a shadow beast, but enemies can't. No creature can end its movement in the same space as a shadow beast.
- Their movement speed is half your speed.
The shadow beasts are under your control and they act on your turn, moving when you do. As part of the action used to cast this spell, and as an action on your turn you can command each shadow beast to either attack a target of your choice, or to teleport a distance of up to half your speed to an unoccupied space you can see. The shadow beasts can each make one opportunity attack per round, and when they hit with an opportunity attack their target's movement speed is reduced by 10ft until the end of your next turn. If at the end of your turn you haven't given the shadow beasts any commands they remain where they are and make one attack against an enemy within their reach, if there is one.
This spell ends if you revert back to humanoid form, if you lose concentration, when all the shadow beasts have been killed, or when you dismiss the beasts on your turn (no action).
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage the shadow beasts deal with their attacks increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 5th. Additionally, when you cast this spell using a spell slot if 7th level or higher you can summon one additional shadow beast (total of 3). You can summon a total of 4 shadow beasts when you cast this spell using a 9th level spell slot.
