You reach out and grab a single target in melee range. Winter white tendrils of frost seep off your hand and into the target's throat and creating a chunk of ice in the target's throat. The target must make a Constitution Saving throw taking 4d6 Cold damage on a failed save and begins choking on the ice and gains the suffocating condition. The target may repeat the saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns until it falls unconscious. A creature allied with the target who is within melee range of the target may use their action to make a medicine check with the same DC as the original spell to dislodge the ice. Dislodging the ice or succeeding on the Constitution save ends the suffocating condition. The target takes half damage on a successful save and does not suffocate.
A creature who does not need to breathe does not need to dislodge the ice and does not gain the suffocating condition.
When cast at higher levels, this spell gains and additional 1d6 cold damage for each slot above second level
