You sacrifice a portion of your life force to fire a bolt of a deathly substance. You take 1d4 damage, and make a ranged spell attack against one creature within 60 feet of you. On a hit, the target takes 1d12 + your spellcasting ability necrotic damage.

At Higher Levels: This spells damage increases by 1d12 when you reach 5th level (2d12), 11th level (3d12), and 17th level (4d12). Additionally, the damage you take increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4).
