Flailing as if blowing in a strong wind, a dark patch of briars rapidly grows to fill a 20-foot square on ground that you can see within range. For the duration, the the briar turns the ground in the area into difficult terrain. White flowers begin to bloom.

When a creature enters the affected area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, the creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 3d6 piercing damage and be restrained by the briar until the spell ends. A creature that starts its turn in the area and is already restrained by the thorns takes 3d6 piercing damage.

A creature restrained by the thorns can use its action to make a Strength or Dexterity check (its choice) against your spell save DC. On a success, it frees itself.

More white flowers bloom as long as the spell is held, the bush in full bloom by the time the spell ends.

* - (A piece of a blackthorn hedge, any size. If a wand, rod, or staff is used as an arcane focus for the spell, it MUST be made of blackthorn.)
