Creation

This spell creates an undead servant. Choose a corpse of a creature of CR 6 or lower within range. Your spell imbues the target with a foul mimicry of life, raising it as an undead creature. The target becomes a skeleton if you chose bones or if it has been more than 24 hours since the creature has died, or the creature becomes a zombie if you chose a corpse and the creature was killed in less than 24 hours. You must write down the creature's new name on a piece of paper, if the piece of paper is destroyed or the name is erased the creature is no longer under your control and becomes under the control of the GM.

When creating an undead with this spell, you create a zombie or skeleton version of the monster, depending on the type of undead you created (zombie or skeleton), use the relevant template and make the necessary changes to the creature. A creature brought back by this spell loses all legendary resistances, legendary actions, it's proficiency in saving throws, lair actions, and has it's hit dice and damage dice halved (rounded up), gains immunity to being poisoned and immunity to poison damage.

Zombie Template: The creature's dexterity score becomes 6, intelligence score becomes 3, wisdom score becomes 6, charisma score becomes 5. The creature gains proficiency in wisdom saving throws (it keeps the same proficiency bonus that it had as a creature).

Skeleton Template: The creature's constitution score becomes 15, intelligence becomes 6, wisdom score becomes 8, charisma score becomes 5. The creature gains vulnerability to bludgeoning damage.

On each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command any creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 60 feet of you (if you control multiple creatures, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete.

Whatever new name is given to the creature, if the undead is given a command and their name is used in the command the undead will act on the command as long as it does not go directly against the orders given by you. The undead will respond no longer respond to it's name if the piece of paper with it's name written is destroyed or it's name is erased.

If you cast this spell on a different creature, and there is another creature that is currently under your control by this spell, if the spell/spells casted on the original creature are the same spell level as what is being casted on this new creature, the original creature stops obeying any command you've given it and becomes under control of the GM. If you cast this spell at a higher level on the same creature, the creature's hit dice and damage dice are no longer halved.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the challenge rating of the creature to be targeted increases by 2 for each slot level above 3rd.
