With this spell, you can establish a sensory link with a fresh corpse of a humanoid or a freshly animated zombie (dead for no longer than 10 days) within the spell's range. This link allows you to gather sensory information from the vicinity of the corpse or undead being.
When you cast this spell choose one of the following options for the type of sensory signal you will receive from the link, which cannot be changed for the duration of the spell, which is collected through a single organ (an eye, an ear, a nostril, the tongue or a hand dependent upon your choice) belonging to the corpse. This organ does not need to be attached to the rest of the corpse for the spell to function. While the spell is in effect, you can still sense normally through your unlinked organs.
Sight. You can see what the corpse or undead creature sees as if looking through one of the creature's eyes.
Sound. You can hear through one ear, exactly as if your ear were in the exact current location as the corpse.
Smell. With one nostril, you can now smell things exactly as if standing at the corpse's current location. The spell conveniently masks the putrefying stench of the cadaver (if there is one), so that other, subtler smells can be detected easily.
Taste. You can taste any substance that comes into contact with the corpse's tongue, which tastes exactly as if you had placed the substance on your own tongue. The taste of the corpse's own rotting flesh is masked out by the spell.
Touch. You gain the ability to sense textural and environmental conditions with a single hand, as if standing at the corpse's location. You can gauge the surface texture and temperature of any object or substance that is placed in contact with the corresponding hand of the corpse.
Additionally, if this spell is cast on a zombie, the magic enables you to issue simple commands to the undead creature via this link. The command can be no longer than four words and can deal only with the creature's movement. When cast on dead tissue, the spell does not grant any additional animation to the tissue (a cadaver will likely remain stationary for the duration of the spell).
You can choose up to two senses when you reach 4th level, three at 7th level, four at 10th level, and all five at 13th level, though the number and type are both unable to be changed after the initial casting of the spell
