The caster assumes a comfortable position (outside of combat) and spends 10 minutes to concentrate on the astral self, using the pearl as a medium. Upon completion of the spell a ward is formed surrounding the concentrated soul, now detached but within the body. The caster remains in this state for a predetermined time (1-12 hours) and will afterwards reconnect to the body it is in and regain consciousness. The duration off the spell counts as a rest.

For the duration of the spell, the souls is immune to all external influence, magic, fiendish, celestial or otherwise.

For the duration of the spell, the caster is not conscious: unaware of any physical stimuli , does not dream, can not have visions and can not be woken up.

If the caster awakens within a dead body, he dies. If the caster awakens in a different live body it can now vie for possession of this body. Each day both souls roll a wisdom save (retaining the previous wisdom value), to determine who can control the body that day. If either soul controls the body for 3 consecutive days, the control becomes permanent and the opposing soul dies. If the body falls below 25 % health a new wisdom contest will be rolled. If the body drops to 0 health, the soul that was not in control immediately takes over.

Lore: This spell was developed by Kindrick Haze, a young human wizard at a school studying demonic and cursed relics. In fear of the being exposed to corrupting influences and to abate the nightmares, he combined meditation with necromancy and abjuration to isolate and ward his soul as he slept. Although a brilliant magical scholar full of potential. He was within this astral retained state when two students in the next room lost control of a conjuration spell. A large hellhound rampaged through the school. Unaware of wat was happening, Kindrick was devoured. For years since that night, folk in the area have told tales of a hellish blue eyed beast, prowling and howling the woods at night. But the only victim ever reported, were a group of bandits that moved in near the town, the local guards still whisper of the blood and gore they found the next day.
