You send a wave of psychic energy towards one creature within range, attempting to inflict it with Aphasia. The target must make an Intelligence saving throw, on a failure taking 3d8 psychic damage, half on a success. In addition, if the target fails the save, for the duration the language the target speaks whenever it opens its mouth switches to an ancient, unintelligible language. It can still use verbal components of spells, however any spell that requires the target to understand the caster, such as command or suggestion, fails. The target can repeat the saving throw at the start of each of its turns to end this effect.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
