Magical globes darkness instantly spread from a point you choose within range (60ft) to attach to the heads of hostile creatures within a 20-foot-radius sphere for the duration.  The darkness spreads around the heads (or wherever else they may keep their visual sense organs) of these creatures. At the caster's choice, orbs may also target all sources of non-magical light.  If an orb attaches to a magical source of light of 4th level or lower, the spell that created that light is dispelled. If the orb attaches to a magical source of light of 5th level, the spell with the higher DC dispels the lower DC spell. It cannot dispel a light source of 6th level or higher.  This spell may be ended with a bonus action from the caster, and it ends instantly if a new magical light source of 6th level or higher is created within the area of effect. For one turn after the effects are removed, all creatures suffer light (and sound) sensitivity and make all rolls at disadvantage.

A creature with darkvision can't see through this darkness, and nonmagical light can't penetrate it. A creature must have visual (and auditory) sensory organs to be affected

A sorcerer may also expend a sorcery point to also mute all sound within the orbs.

If cast as a ritual spell with at least two participants who spend at least 10 minutes preparing the spell, hostile creatures within half a mile are impacted by the spell as if cast by a sorcerer who expended a sorcery point. For every additional 10 minutes of uninterrupted rite, the spell radius increased by one quarter mile, with a maximum range of 3 miles. If the full 90 minutes are spent on the ritual, the effects will last through two sunrises or until individually dispelled.

Magical light sources created within the ritual area will not disrupt the entire ritual. Magical light sources below 6th level fail completely. Magical light sources of level 6 or higher may disrupt the effects of the ritual only within the radius of that magical light and if that light is moved into a different area of effect, there is a 50% chance that they will be extinguished.

For the purpose of this ritual, hostile creatures are defined by the ritualists in groups by race, faction, gender, monster type, and/or other grouping factors. Individuals may not be targeted.
