You order a elder fire elemental to help you in battle. You conjure three fire spirits, surrounding you 5 feet apart. These medium-sized elementals each have resistance to fire damage. They have 20 HP, AC 12 and are telepathically linked to you.
As an action, you can point at a creature, no more than 60ft away and command these elementals to attack it. Each spirit then casts the spell Fire Bolt targeting the creature you pointed at. This spell’s damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10). This spell can also benefit from additional subclass/class features and feats, like Potent Spellcasting or Elemental Adept (Fire).
As a bonus action, you can also force the spirits to protect you at all cost. When you do so, the elementals shield you from all sides. You gain total cover, resistance to all damage, except psychic, 60 temporary hit points and a new AC of 12. Area of Effect spells still damage you, however. When you take at least 20 temporary hit points worth of damage in this state, a spirit is destroyed.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell at 6th level or higher, the duration increases by one hour for each spell slot above 5th level.
