Up to three creatures of your choice that you can see within range must make Consitution saving throws as necromantic energy washes through their bodies, draining them of their vitality. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs, and plants and water elementals make this saving throw with disadvantage. Each target takes 6d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
If you target a nonmagical plant that isn't a creature, such as a tree or a shrub, it doesn't make a saving throw; it simply withers and dies.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 and you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 6th.
