You imbue one dead, undead or unconscious creature with enough necromantic energy to move up to half of its movement and make a single attack. A dead or unconscious creature uses the zombie stat block, or skeleton stat block if applicable. An undead creature not currently controlled by you can make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC to resist this effect. This spell automatically fails if it targets an undead with a higher challenge rating than 1/4.
This spell can target an undead with up to challenge rating 1 without automatically failing and the undead's attack deals an additional damage die when you reach 5th level, challenge rating 2 and two additional damage dice when you reach 11th level, and challenge rating 3 and three additional damage dice when you reach 17th level.

Posted Jun 1, 2021This is a new version to make the spell available to warlocks and to give it some better scaling. Originally I made this spell not available to them because Animate Dead wasn't available to them unless you took the Eldritch Invocation for it. The reason for that, I believe, is Animate Dead is fairly unique and awkward with the warlock spell slot amount/level. But I've been re-considering since the more recent stuff that has been released, mainly Summon Undead, is available to warlocks. So since this doesn't have the same awkwardness that Animate Dead has I'm changing the availability. As far as the better scaling goes there were some comments on the previous version about it's damage being relatively low, which was true and semi-intentional. I still feel like the challenge rating scaling is necessary for the cantrip to keep up with the game scaling (I mean it's still mostly untested by me but going back over stuff it still makes good sense to me) so I'm not getting rid of that and decided to just increase the damage dice of the undead's attack. Honestly the undead your probably using this on still don't have super big damage die (usually d6s and d4s) so the damage increase isn't massive and that's still good imo.
Feel free to check previous version for commentary.
