You send your mind to another plane of existence in order to receive advice and information from powers there; a demigod, the spirit of a long- dead sage, or some other mysterious entity. Contacting this extraplanar intelligence can strain or even break your mind. When you cast this spell, make an Intelligence saving throw based on what plane you contact. On a failure, you take 6d6 psychic damage and are insane until you finish a long rest. While insane, you can't take actions, can't understand what other creatures say, can't read, and speak only in gibberish. A greater restoration spell cast on you ends this effect.
On a successful save, you can ask the power up to five questions. You must ask the questions before the spell ends. The powers reply in a language you understand, but they resent such contact and give only brief answers to your questions. All questions are answered with "yes," "no," "maybe," "never," "irrelevant," or "unclear" (if the power doesn't know the answer to the question). If a one-word answer would be misleading, the powers might instead offer a short phrase as an answer.
Contact with minds far removed from your home plane increases the difficulty of your mind to withstand the backlash, but the chances of the power knowing the answers and the probability of the entity answering correctly, are likewise increased by moving to distant planes.
On rare occasions, this divination may be blocked by an act of certain deities or forces.
