A creature you touch regains a number of hit points equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the healing increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
Thanks!
Yes, you can touch yourself and thus cast spells with a range of touch on you.
Overall fairly useful, bit lacking in its power against fiends however my teammates love me now, im pretty well known as the healer kinda guy, they come cryin to me with them boo boos so I patch em up real nice, but I feel kinda taken advantage of you know... they like me for my healing not who I am... they always how well can you heal but never how are you.. shits kinda tuff man but I keep my head up and keep healing with my 2 heals a day, just kinda wish I was more of a go doer than a heal kinda guy... anyways Bingus approves so ig ill remain the healer but fair warning you will get taken advantage of... anyways ily
Thanks! (Newbie here)
I assumed that would probably be the case, figured it wouldn't hurt to get clarification just to be sure.
Can you heal yourself?
They are not constructs they are humanoids. Heal spells work on humanoids. They are synthetic life not robots your welcome.
So if cure wounds is stored in a level one spell gem and then used later does it become a default 1d8+3? The spell gem has it's own attack modifier and save DC which is +5 and 13 respectively so I wager the spell modifier is +3 (assuming proficiency bonus of the gem is +2 which doesn't apply to healing).
I would also like to know. We just had this happen in our game. We couldn't find a sage advice about it. Also if it is a spell that scales like a cantrip, does the damage reflect your level?
Apparently
I want to understans the "Touch" part of this spell.
When casted by or casted to a Allied Grung.
Does his Poison Skin trait activates?
If the grung is doing the casting, then I'd say no. Since you're touching them with your hands, and grungs probably don't secret their poison on their hands. Grungs keep slaves, so if everything their hands touched got poison all over them, it'd probably be an issue.
However, if a non-grung is casting it on a grung... Maybe. The phb doesn't say touch spells need to be skin-to-skin touch. So if you are wearing some thick gloves you should be fine. Or the grung could direct the caster to a spot without poison, possibly with a reaction.
This is really cool for during campaign references! Thanks Dnd Beyond 😊😊😊
I know its been almost a year since you've posted and probably have learnt. You roll an extra 1d8 per spell slot level above the first one, so a 2nd level spell slot is 2d8 and a lvl 3 spell slot is 3d8 and on until lvl 9

I gave this spell 2d6+Mod healing per level and it's a decent healing spell all of a sudden.
Averages 72 healing at 6th level which is 2 more than "Heal" but is still Touch and doesn't heal extra affects.
Perfectly balanced.
"Mend bone, clean flesh, stitch skin, weave breath"
- Cleric of Hearth and Home Cure Wounds Incantation
"Still can't attach a severed arm though"
- Harlequin of the Ordo Ridiculous
Ok all I am just learning 5th edition from 3.5 big change on a lot of stuff here. I have a Life Cleric with 18 Wisdom and Charisma. I am 6th level, so if I cast cure wounds as a 3rd level spell slot is it 3d8 + 7, 3d8 + 9, or 3d8+21 if its the first 2 that is really lame for a healing cleric to be so low. it would only heal on average 22 or 24 hit points. We are in a home brew setting and the fighter gets pummeled by creatures doing almost enough to kill him in the first round. Would appreciate all comments on this healing for Life Healer.
Thanks
It's 3d8 + 4 (Wis modifier) + 2 (Life cleric ability fixed bonus) + 3 (Life cleric ability spell's level bonus) = 3d8 + 9.
A spell cast with a higher level slot assumes the level of that slot: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/phb/spellcasting#CastingaSpellataHigherLevel
In 3.5 the equivalent spell (3rd level healing spell) would be Cure Serious wounds. If you took the Healing domain, it'd also heal 3d8 + 7 damage.
Thank you. It's not that impressive for being a healing cleric
To heal a tree, do I use the Cure wounds spell or Plant growth?
