A beam of yellow light flashes from your pointing finger, then condenses to linger at a chosen point within range as a glowing bead for the duration. When the spell ends, either because your concentration is broken or because you decide to end it, the bead blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame that spreads around corners. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes fire damage equal to the total accumulated damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The spell's base damage is 12d6. If at the end of your turn the bead has not yet detonated, the damage increases by 1d6.
If the glowing bead is touched before the interval has expired, the creature touching it must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the spell ends immediately, causing the bead to erupt in flame. On a successful save, the creature can throw the bead up to 40 feet. When it strikes a creature or a solid object, the spell ends, and the bead explodes.
The fire damages objects in the area and ignites flammable objects that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, the base damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 7th.

Posted Aug 16, 2018Question: Does a creature have to actively touch the bead for it to go off? If either an enemy or ally occupy the same 5x5 space as the bead, can they opt to not touch the bead, or does that physical proximity automatically mean they're touching it? (By this thinking, placing the bead in an already-occupied space would mean it automatically detonates.)

Posted Oct 1, 2018The 5' square is more of a space that the individuals are able to block/influence easily, so I'd say a creature could occupy that spot without touching it. However, I'd say if something knocks it prone, they would end up touching it, if that is the intention of the creature causing the prone condition. The caster can at any time end their concentration and make the fireball go off, so having enemies avoid the bead isn't too much of a problem though.

Posted Mar 8, 2019Since touching it allows a creature a DEX save in order to throw it 40 feet, could the caster keep it at their feet to charge it and then throw it at an enemy, so long as they succeed on the save to throw it? This allows it to be aimed to an extent. Combine it with a Ring of Evasion or something similar and you would automatically succeed.

Posted Sep 7, 2020or by the time you get a 7th level spell slot, you have at least 11meta magic points, you have 13, then you concentrating on the spell, and deal 14412d6 damage half as much on a successful save. enough to kill a terask with no resistance at least 4 times, yeah your concentrating on a spell for 24 hours but the payoff is legendary!

Posted Oct 5, 2020With metamagic you can double the duration with a sorcerer point up to 24 hours, so if the previous duration was 12 hours you can double to 24. You can't use more points to stack the doubling up to 24 hours. Since this duration is one minute, the most you can extend the spell to is two minutes, not 24 hours.

Posted Nov 29, 2020Counterspell is used to interrupt the casting of the spell. If you can see the bead, the spell has already been cast, and you'll need to dispel it.

Posted May 12, 2021So it says the bead glows, but how much? Could it be hidden with fog or illusion? Theoretically could it be a claymore?
