You cause a creature or an object you can see within range to grow larger or smaller for the duration. Choose either a creature or an object that is neither worn nor carried. If the target is unwilling, it can make a Constitution saving throw. On a success, the spell has no effect.
If the target is a creature, everything it is wearing and carrying changes size with it. Any item dropped by an affected creature returns to normal size at once.
Enlarge. The target's size doubles in all dimensions, and its weight is multiplied by eight. This growth increases its size by one category-- from Medium to Large, for example. If there isn't enough room for the target to double its size, the creature or object attains the maximum possible size in the space available. Until the spell ends, the target also has advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. The target's weapons also grow to match its new size. While these weapons are enlarged, the target's attacks with them deal 1d4 extra damage.
Reduce. The target's size is halved in all dimensions, and its weight is reduced to one-eighth of normal. This reduction decreases its size by one category--from Medium to Small, for example. Until the spell ends, the target also has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. The target's weapons also shrink to match its new size. While these weapons are reduced, the target's attacks with them deal 1d4 less damage (this can't reduce the damage below 1).

What if your an 18th level rune knight lizardfolk and you become gargantuan with help from a friendly wizard could you eat someone with your bite attack or hungry jaws where it literally says you go into a feeding frenzy
Yep! Or even better, do the same with the ammunition of a catapult, for times 8 the force!*
*Because it's 8 times heavier, and force equals mass times acceleration.
It says anything the target is wearing (saddle) or carrying (you) grows as well. So, rules as written, you would indeed also grow!
If you twin this, could you make your own fighter larger but make a hill giant smaller? Like, it does not have to be the same effect on both targets, right?
I know this is overdue.
But here it is, Rune Knight Goliath
Large/Huge (giants might)+ this + Powerful Build (race trait), effectively Gargantuan or larger.
I was just trying to find out the same thing and realized that the feature has been added, just in case you didn't know! You just have to select "Additional Bard Spells" under the "Optional Feature Manager" in the Character Builder.
because as a DM I would say that 8 times heavier would break most catapults unless specially made to do so.
I have a small question on how big things get... ;)
It says the Creature Doubles in all Dimensions But it also says they only get 1 Size category bigger...
If you Enlarge a Large creature (2x2 Squares) wouldn't it become a Gargantuan creature (4x4 squares)?
I want to cast enlarge on a Moon Druid while she is in Wild Shape (Giant Octopus) so she would go from Large to Huge. How would this effect her stats? I'm curious because Giant Octopus Tentacle attack has a +5 on attack, which Grapples and Restraints and an escape DC of 16 . But Attack, Grapple, and Restrained are strength base, on the attacker part, so shouldn't the Attack and DC be higher because of the increased size?
No. A large creature is 8-16 feet tall. Doubled you get 16-32 feet tall which is the height for huge. Gargantuan is 32 to 64.
The squares a creature controls is not the same as size.
But...the mount is carrying you...
"If the target is a creature, everything it is wearing and carrying changes size with it. Any item dropped by an affected creature returns to normal size at once."
So, I would think yes, until you dismount at least.
You cant stack the effect
what about doing it once on a rune knight fighter then them using giant's might?
Multiple castings? Coordinated casting assault?
Imagine dozens of fairies casting it on you all at once, if you failed all the saves (horrible) wouldn't you halve each time?
I'd allow it.
Shouldn't this be available for Bards too?
No. Both are concentration spells. You cannot concentrate one more than 1 concentration spell at a time. You could cast another spell whilst concentrating on Enlarge that did not have concentration.
There is a rule in the DMG that says the number of dice increases for each size category on a weapon. The rule is intended for making monsters and for if players take weapons from a large monster but it is potentially reasonable to rule that it applies here. Of course that means if you use this with a great sword you will be hitting 4d6 +1d4 + mod damage which is allot and probably not balanced at all. Though its also weird that with this spell you deal more damage if you drop your weapon and pick up a large enemies instead.
How much damage would you take if you reduced yourself and the spell ended while you are in a space that is too small to accommodate your normal size?
Why this spell is 2nd level instead of its original spot at 1st, I'll never understand. It's duration is fixed and super limited.
