Bolstering yourself with a necromantic facsimile of life, you gain 1d4 + 4 temporary hit points for the duration.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you gain 5 additional temporary hit points for each slot level above 1st.
* - (a small amount of alcohol or distilled spirits)
But not upcast with their Pact Magic slots, which limits the utility of this spell beyond the first couple levels.
yeah... but this doesnt upcast very well. personally if you are a warlock and want to up cast a spell better to go with armor of agathis. it scales better both in damage and temp hp.
Honestly I think it would be okay if arcane casters could use cure wounds, but as transmutation instead of evocation. Just a little flesh-knitting spell.
The fact that this spell uses alcohol / liquor for the material component is terribly amusing…I can’t believe I didn’t notice it sooner.
Almost as though; the character is so magically bolstered / inebriated, that they actually manage to shrug off damage.
Imma use this fr my BBEG

what role is your current character?
B-tier.
not bad, but nothing compared to Armor of Agathys, which has an additional effect (and a REALLY good one at that) and give basically the same hit points and scales the same (better considering that secondary effect)
But you could recast it till you get the maximum possible result with false life. Basically giving you 8 for a hr until you are attacked.
Definitely a lifesaver in some cases.
No it isn't 🛑
this is perfect for my necromancer
Can I cast it on my Quasit familiar since I have the Pact of the chain, so in lore sense does the familiar also count as myself?
Your quasit is a familiar, as per the spell, which allows you to share spells with it. Any Spell with a target of self can be applied to your familiar instead of you. Later, with the right evocations you can choose to affect your familiar and yourself with the same casting, or even use the quasit to deliver a touch spell that you cast.
There is nothing in either the Pact of the Chain description or the Find Familiar spell description that says that spells with a target of Self can be applied to your familiar instead of you.
Find Familiar does allow the familiar to deliver spells with a range of touch, but not spells with a range of self. This doesn't require any invocations, it's just a standard part of the Find Familiar spell.
