You manifest a minor wonder, a sign of supernatural power, within range. You create one of the following magical effects within range:
- Your voice booms up to three times as loud as normal for 1 minute.
- You cause flames to flicker, brighten, dim, or change color for 1 minute.
- You cause harmless tremors in the ground for 1 minute.
- You create an instantaneous sound that originates from a point of your choice within range, such as a rumble of thunder, the cry of a raven, or ominous whispers.
- You instantaneously cause an unlocked door or window to fly open or slam shut.
- You alter the appearance of your eyes for 1 minute.
If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its 1-minute effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.
With this spell we started heavy metal band
Would be soooo much more useful if it used somatic instead of verbal components.
Thaumaturgy is a cool spell and it is helpful sea is the most helpful spell
Lol, your table your rules. But any such ruling should be a double edged sword, when the BBEG rolls up on the PC's does it work for him that way? It should.
Yeah they should
nope, its not written anywhere that it does. if your dm wants to give advantage. its his choice. the spel is just fluff !
Are the eyes not said to be the windows to the soul? Twinned Spell metamagic to force an enemy's eyes to slam shut? 🤣
I know, I know, not RAW. But if you're not pushing the limits of spells like this and [Tooltip Not Found] at every available opportunity, then you're doing it wrong. 😉
"If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its 1-minute effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action." Would be curious to know yall's thoughts on this. Is this suggesting in a non-combat situation you could cast 3 Thaumaturgies simultaneously?
If so does that mean:
Your voice booms 9 times as loud? You can cause 3 unlocked doors or windows to open or shut? or create thunder, raven cry, ominous whispers, etc. in 3 different places around you (within 30 ft)?! (that last one could be really entertaining)
Nice!!
Question: if your voice volume in increased 3x for 1 minute, and you have a racial effect using your voice (i.e. daunting roar for leonin) with a specific range, does this spell increase the range of the desired effect?
"You create an instantaneous sound that originates from a point of your choice within range, such as a rumble of thunder, the cry of a raven, or ominous whispers"
Fart with extra Reverb
shoot weith a gun!
casting multiple times would allow each casting with a 1 minute duration to overlap for their remaining durations. example:
whether you could choose the same option multiple times is a question for the DM. my interpretation is: each option can only be in effect once but the one about flame treats flicker, brighten/dim, and color as separate options.
Try to make npcs think the town is hunted by ghosts with this spell :)
Aight, hear me out:
You slam your hands on a table, preferably the table of someone of high importance. You then close your eyes and begin chanting repetitiously, which causes tremors to form. On your next turn, flames begin to flicker, making the room's light dance and shift like the rolling of waves in a thunderstorm. Next, Whispers begin to be heard, slowly becoming louder. The effects linger for a moment before stopping, and you open your eyes in a few seconds, revealing them to be a pale white, all while still chanting. You then chant one last time, and then speak in a voice that has become louder, saying [insert relevant thing that is likely manipulative in some way] in a demanding tone. I mean, how can you beat that? You'd probably need a performance check, but I'd say you get the advantage from whoever it is needing a new pair of pants if I were the DM. Other than that specific thing, there are still a ton of uses for this spell. I mean, slamming a door open or shut could be used in the midst of a chase, blocking off the direct path toward you or catching the person off guard and hitting them with it, convincing a person you're some extraplanar entity significantly more powerful than them, and even simple magic tricks could be had with this one spell. Once again, extremely useful, just a significantly more fantastical prestidigitation. Pretty pog, if I do say myself.
Is it not? It is for me. I see it in my spell listing for my Tiefling bard, I don't see why it wouldn't be for you.
that might work maybe
I know this is late, but no - you can't.
This is not a Damage Cantrip, as stated in the description. It's an Intimidation Cantrip. You don't manipulate the fire and light - you make it flicker, to intimidate or scare the opponent.
This class works well with a goblin character. Imagine: You enter the room to see a small figure standing over a corpse with glowing eyes at the very edge of the light cast by your torch. As you consider your next move the door swings shut behind you.
