Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of The Lightning Body monks are meant to specialize in dealing with large groups of enemies all at once using their lightning damage. Due to their mechanics however, it can be hard to track.

Arc Lightning

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd Level, you gain the ability to use lightning in your strikes. Whenever you hit a target with an unarmed strike, the monk can expend 1 ki point to deal an additional 1d4 lightning to their opponents with the strike. This lightning damage die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table. Moreover, the lightning generated by the monk arcs to other targets of the monk’s choosing that are within 5ft of the struck target, dealing half of the lightning damage dealt to the struck target to the other targets.

Storm Tempered

Through your training, you have tempered your body in storms, their lightning strikes increasing your strength. You gain resistance to lightning damage and can expend 1 ki point to redirect the lightning damage that would damage a target within 5ft of the monk, to another target within 15ft of the monk, dealing half of the original lightning damage to the new target. This redirected lightning also experiences the effects of the Arc Lightning trait and the original lightning damage must originate from a source other than the monk.

Tempest Step

Upon reaching this level, the monk's walking speed doubles and they gain the ability to dash as a bonus action. Moreover, the monk can expend 2 ki points as an action to teleport to an unoccupied space the monk can see within 90ft of them. Once they do this, a lightning bolt will strike down at their new location, causing all targets within 5ft of the monk to roll a Dexterity saving throw against the monk's DC. On a failure, they take 2d(x) lightning damage, half as much on a success, the type of die determined by the Martial Arts column of the Monk table. This lightning strike also experiences the effects of the Arc Lightning trait.

Lightning Soul

The monk can expend 5 ki points to turn into a living storm for 1 minute. Whilst in the storm form, the monk gains immunity to lightning and thunder damage, they gain a hover speed equal to their walking speed, they cannot be restrained, grappled, or paralyzed and the lightning damage dice of the monk are doubled for the duration. Moreover, the monk can expend 1 ki point to draw in targets into its tempest, causing them to roll a Strength saving throw against the monk's DC or be drawn 30ft towards the monk. If the target enters the monk's space, they take 2d6 lightning damage at the start of their turn for every turn they remain in the storm.
