Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Flames embrace the splendor and chaos of fire. They are creatures of passion, freedom, and spectacle, making their presence known wherever they go. Flame bards are known for dangerous stunts such as juggling burning axes, running across hot coals, or swallowing flaming swords. Their affinity for fire carries forward onto the battlefield, where their fiery dancing inspires allies and incinerates enemies.

Burning Secrets

After joining the college of Fire Dancing at 3rd level, you gain additional magical knowledge. You know the burning hands and flame blade spells. They count as bard spells for you, but don’t count against the number of bard spells known.

Fire Dancing

At 3rd level, you can wreath yourself in dazzling flames that let you weave and dance through the battlefield. After you cast a spell that deals fire damage or make an attack that deals fire damage, you can expend a bardic inspiration die to surround yourself in dancing flames until the end of your next turn. While it is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • You shed a bright light in a 20 foot radius and a dim light an additional 20 feet.
  • Your speed is increased by 10 feet.
  • Your movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
  • When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you can spend your reaction to cause the attacker to take fire equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die (this does not expend the die).

Dancing Blade

Starting at 6th level, your flame blade spell no longer requires concentration.

While your flame blade is active, when you use your action to cast a spell or to make an attack with your flame blade, you can use your bonus action to make an additional attack with your flame blade.

Resplendent Flames

Starting at 14th level, your fire dancing can intensify into a grand spectacle of heat, colour, and light. You no longer need to expend a bardic inspiration die to activate your Fire Dancing.

Once per turn, when you do activate your Fire Dancing, you can expend a bardic inspiration die to amplify the flames, granting you the following additional benefits until the dance ends:

  • The light brightens, increasing the bright light radius to 40 feet and the dim light to 40 feet beyond that.
  • The bright flames cause you to be heavily obscured to others.
  • When activated, creatures of your choice within 15 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your bard spellcasting DC. They take 4d6 fire damage on failure, or half as much on success.
