Base Class: Artificer
You've long accepted the fact that combat was not your forte. However, just because you might not do much on your own does not mean that you may not be useful in the hands of another. Realizing this you went through the dangerous process of changing your body in a way that allows you to completely change your form and become a weapon. Now even you can become a lethal force on the battlefield should you be put in the right hands.
Weapons Master
At third level you have become proficient in a variety of melee weapons and the proper ways to use them:
- You gain proficiency in martial weapons
- When your wielder makes an attack you can attempt to subtly guide them through each swing. When making an attack your wielder can use their intelligence modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity modifier, for the attack and damage rolls.
Intelligent Strike
At fifth level, you have learned the ins and outs of combat, as well as the critical points to strike down your enemies. You gain a number of Intelligent Strike points equal to your proficiency bonus that can be used for the following abilities.
- (1 Point) You are able to add a bonus to the wielder's attacks equal to your Intelligence modifier. The bonus remains until the beginning of your next turn.
- (1 Point) You can add an additional damage die to your wielder's attacks. The bonus remains until the beginning of your next turn.
- (1 Point) You can sacrifice bonuses to your attack and add it to your AC or the AC of your wielder until the beginning of your next turn.
You can only choose to add these bonuses before you make the attack.
Arcane Blast
At ninth level ou have mastered the ability to cast spells while in your sword form. Whenever you cast attack spells with somatic components you are able to do half of that damage through the sword, as long as they are not ranged attack spells.
Improved Intelligent Strike
At fifteenth level your intelligent strikes become more powerful.
- You can now add a bonus to an attack equal to double your intelligence modifier.
- You can now add 2 extra damage die to your attack
- When you increase AC it remains at that number until you are hit. This ability does not stack.
Shift
At third level, as an action, you cause your body to transform into that of a weapon. You can be held by someone else and wielded the same way as they would a normal weapon. You are able to transform into any weapon that you are proficient in. Your damage die is that of the weapon you have shifted into, and you get an amount of damage die equal to your proficiency bonus. Along with that, shifting affects your ability to use your other Artificer abilities.
- You can only cast spells that do not have somatic components. Along with this, if you cast a ranged attack spell then you still suffer a disadvantage if the person holding you is within 5 feet of an enemy.
- You can infuse items, but if you infuse items you are holding or wearing then the bonus is nullified when you are in sword form. However, if they are being held or worn by someone else then the bonuses still apply.
- You cannot use Flash of Genius on anyone except for the person holding you and yourself.
- When you are in sword form you are considered both a humanoid and an object.
