Base Class: Paladin
The Chain-breakers, also known as Freedom Knights are devoted to overthrowing tyrants and breaking the systems they put in place to control people. They are frequent opponents of inflexible or unjust laws and believe strongly that every man and woman has the right to determine their own path.
Tenets of the Chain-breakers
I am the chain-breaker, the freedom-giver.
I will not abide the shackles of the tyrant.
I will fight the oppressor wherever they appear.
Neither kin nor beast shall I give my allegiance to
For power corrupts all to whom power is given.
My oath I give to freedom herself
For freedom has no master
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Weight of the World. When you hit with an attack, you can use your channel divinity to transfer any and all of the conditions listed below from an ally that you can see to the target of the attack. You also deal extra radiant damage equal to your paladin level + your charisma modifier. The saving throw to resist the condition is your spell save DC and the effect lasts until the end of your next turn.
Conditions that can be transferred; Blinded, Charmed*, Deafened, Frightened**, Incapacitated, Paralyzed, Poisoned, Restrained or Stunned.
*The creature becomes charmed by you.
**You become the subject of the creature's fear.
Loosen the chains. As an action, you speak a promise of alacrity over your allies within earshot. Any time in the next 10 minutes, your allies may use a bonus action to dash or to attempt to break free of a grapple. This can only be used once per recipient of the promise.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Aura of Celerity
Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you at the start of their turn gain 10 ft. additional movement speed while you are conscious. In addition, the area within your aura doesn't count as difficult terrain for you and your allies if it otherwise would.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Weight of Burdens
Beginning at 15th level, whenever you use your Divine Smite or you hit with an attack while concentrating on any of the smite spells (e.g. searing smite) the target must also succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against DC {{savedc:cha}} or be affected as if by the slow spell until the end of your next turn.
Vanguard of Freedom
At 20th level, you can take on the mantle of the Avatar of Freedom. This may take different appearances depending on your cultural or religious upbringing such as taking on angelic or avian features, or perhaps stag horns. Your feet appear to hover a few inches above the ground and your movement appears effortless. This lasts for one minute and can be used once per short rest. The effect persists, even if you are unconscious but ends if you die.
While you are in this form;
- You hover a few inches above the ground and have resistance to falling damage. You are immune to the effects of difficult surfaces such as ice or the grease spell.
- Your Aura of Celerity becomes difficult terrain for creatures you designate. This applies to flying creatures passing through your area.
- You may use the misty step spell at will without expending any spell slots.
- You may choose one creature within your aura who must succeed at a saving throw against your spell save DC or be affected as if by the earthbind spell. This does not require you to concentrate to maintain.
