The Order of Spellbook Masters spend much of their life memorizing their spells. In many case they are able to cast their spells from memory even if they have only ever cast it once over a year long span.

Spellbook Memorization

2nd-level Order of Spellbook Masters feature

Through the constant memorization and study of your spellbook you can now cast any spell that is in your spellbook, whether or not it is prepared, in the following ways:

  • You can cast any spell, in your spellbook that does not have the ritual tag, by expending both a1st-level spell slot and the spells regular spell slot, or you can use a spell slot one level higher or more. For example, if you want to cast a 3rd-level spell, you can use a 1st-level and 3rd-level spell slots or a 4th-level spell slot.
  • You can cast any spell in your spellbook that does not have the ritual tag as a ritual spell with a increased time cost. Each spell requires the caster to spend 10 minutes plus 10 minutes per spell level to cast in this manner. In addition you can expending the spells regular spell slot to reduce the time to 10 minutes.

In addition you can add one more wizard spells of your choice to your spellbook for free. You can again add one more wizard spells of your choice to your spellbook for free at 6th, 10th, and 14th level in this class. These spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots, as shown on the Wizard table.

Spellbook Focus

2nd-level Order of Spellbook Masters feature

While you are holding your spellbook, you can use the spellbook as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells. In addition if you lose your spellbook, you can copy all of your the spells that you did not have prepared in your new spellbook.

Spellbook Recovery

6th-level Order of Spellbook Masters feature

By continuously studying and memorizing  your spellbook you gain a second use of Arcane Recovery and can use it to exchange prepared spells.

Now Twice per day when you finish a short rest, you can choose expended spell slots to recover or you can choose spells to exchange. The exchanged spells and spell slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half your wizard level (rounded up), and none of the spells or spell slots can be 6th level or higher. Both uses of Arcane Recovery can be used in one short rest.

For example, if you’re a 4th-level wizard, you can exchange up to two levels worth of spells. You can exchange either a 2nd-level spell or two 1st-level spells or a 1st-level spell and 1st-level spell slot.
