Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

You have trained with monks who have taught you to harness the power of ki, a magical energy flowing through the bodies of all living beings. You can use it to enhance your own abilities, and even manipulate your opponent's ki to your benefit.

Ki

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you are able to use your ki to your advantage. You have a number of ki points equal to half your rogue level (rounded up) which you can spend to fuel your ki features. You regain all spent ki points when you finish a short or long rest.

You have access to the following ki features at 3rd level, and will get additional ones as you gain levels:

  • Swift Strike: When you hit with an attack you can spend 1 ki point to trigger your Sneak Attack feature. This feature cannot be used to make more than one Sneak Attack per turn.
  • Heightened Senses: You can spend 1 ki point to get advantage on your next investigation or perception check.

Note: When multiclassing as a monk, the ki points from this feature and the ki points from your monk level are combined into a single pool of ki points. (For example, a character with 8 levels in this class and 5 monk levels gets 9 total ki points.) These points can all be spent on ki features from either class.

Bonus Proficiencies

Also starting at 3rd level, your monastic training gives you proficiency with either one type of artisan's tools or one musical instrument, as well as one of the monk skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, History, Insight, Religion, or Stealth.

Note: For technical reasons the character builder gives you more skill options, but you may only choose one of the above six.

Cunning Cloak

Starting at 9th level, you can use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action and spend 1 ki point to become invisible for 10 minutes. The effect ends early if you make an attack or cast a spell.

Double Step

By 13th level, you gain the ability to use your action to spend 2 ki points and double your movement speed for 1 minute.

Slow Fall

Also at 13th level, you can use your reaction when you fall to reduce any falling damage you take by an amount equal to five times your rogue level.

Enfeebling Onslaught

Beginning at 17th level, when you hit a creature with a sneak attack, you can spend 3 ki points to attempt to manipulate the target's ki and shatter their intellect and personality. The target must make an Intelligence saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

On a failed save, the creature's Intelligence and Charisma scores become 1. The creature can't cast spells, activate magic items, understand language, or communicate in any intelligible way. The creature can, however, identify its friends, follow them, and even protect them.

The effect lasts for 1 minute, or until it is ended by greater restoration, heal, or wish.
