Base Class: Monk
Be it in the name of a deity or a child-like fascination with wanton destruction, monks of the Way of the Sky’s Fury find themselves enraptured by the swift and devastating power of storms. Training is focused towards unleashing numerous quick strikes in order to overwhelm opponents before they can act, tearing through hordes of enemies at blinding speeds.
Channel the Storm
Starting at 3rd level, your meditation on storms has allowed you to harness some of their power. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to suffuse your body with lightning. You can maintain this state for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated. While in this state, you gain the following benefits:
- Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
- Your unarmed strikes deal additional lightning damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
- When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal lightning damage to that creature equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier.
Ride the Lighting
At 6th level, Prolonged exposure has caused some of the heavens’ might to linger within you. You gain resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, when you Channel the Storm you can walk on air. Moving up or down costs an extra foot of movement for each foot traveled (as if you were under the effects of the Etherealness spell). You are considered to be flying if you end your turn in mid-air.
Tempest’s Favor
At 11th level, your understanding of the heavens has grown to the point of perfecting your technique. When you Channel the Storm, you may spend an additional ki point to enhance its effects. While enhanced, the state can be maintained for an hour and you gain the following benefits:
- Your walking speed increases by an additional 10 feet.
- The lightning damage an attacker receives as a reaction increases to two rolls of your Martial Arts die + you Wisdom Modifier.
- Creatures of your choice within 15 feet of you gain resistance to lightning and thunder damage.
Overload
You can strain your body to the breaking point in order to fully embody the storm. As an action, you can spend 4 ki points to cast Haste on yourself. When cast in this way, you gain immunity to lightning and thunder damage, you have advantage on concentration checks to maintain the spell, and you may use the additional action to make two unarmed strikes. When the spell ends, you gain a level of exhaustion.
