Base Class: Monk
Some monks, such as those of the Way of the Drunken Master, use ki in a jerky, unpredictable way to fool their opponents on the battlefield, ultimately gaining the upper hand. Monks of the Way of Precision, however, discipline themselves to use ki in an almost perfected way. By studying their enemies and focusing their abilities to hit where it hurts the most, monks of this way, sometimes called "percisionists", move graciously throughout the battlefield in a strategic dance, dominating their foes. Originally, this monastic tradition was known as the Way of Perfection, but alas, no student, or teacher, for that matter, could truly perfect such a disciplined art of ki and combat.
Precise Reading
Starting when you choose this monastic tradition at 3rd level, you have disciplined your mind in rigorous meditation and mind-clearance, gaining the ability to learn information about the opponents you fight during battle. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to target a creature you can see within 30 feet of you and learn some information about them. Choose one of the options below:
- You learn all of the creature's Damage Resistances.
- You learn all of the creature's Damage Vulnerabilities.
- You learn all of the creature's Damage Immunities.
- You learn all of the creature's Condition Immunities.
- You learn the creature's maximum amount of hit points, current amount of hit points, temporary amount of hit points, and it's Armor Class.
- You learn all of the creature's features, traits, and actions.
Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until you have finished a short or long rest. Additionally, you gain proficiency in the Insight skill if you are not already proficient in it.
Ki-Empowered Reaction
At 6th level, you have disciplined your body in rigorous fight training and exercise, gaining the ability to dodge, block, parry, sidestep, and counter attacks from enemies. After a creature within 5 feet of you attacks you with a melee weapon, you can spend 1 ki point and use your reaction to try to prevent the damage. Roll a d20 and add your Wisdom modifier. If your roll succeeds or equals the creature's Armor Class, you may do one of the following as part of your reaction:
- Move 5 feet away from the creature in any direction. This movement doesn't waste any of your movement, and it does not provoke an opportunity attack from the creature.
- Let the creature roll for damage and reduce the damage by an amount equal to your monk level plus your Wisdom modifier.
If your roll does not succeed or equal the creature's Armor Class, the creature continues it's turn by dealing damage. Additionally, if your roll succeeds or equals the creature's Armor Class, you can choose to instead spend another ki point to make a melee attack against the creature using an unarmed strike or a monk weapon.
Weak Spot
At 11th level, your extensive battle and targeting training have granted you the ability to locate a creature's weakest part of the body, allowing you to hit where it hurts the most. From now on, whenever you make an attack roll, you can choose whether or not to add your attack roll modifier to the roll after you roll for attack, but before the outcome is determined. Also, whenever you make an attack roll with a melee or ranged weapon (provided that the weapon you use to attack with is a monk weapon for you) against a creature, and the number you roll is equal to the creature's Armor Class, then the roll is considered a critical hit for you. Additionally, whenever you score a critical hit in this way, you can choose to spend 3 ki points to add one extra damage die to the damage roll.
Damage-Type Replication
At 17th level, you have disciplined yourself to the brink of near-perfection, gaining the ability to replicate damage types that your enemies are vulnerable to. Whenever you learn a creature's Damage Vulnerabilities using your Precise Reading feature, you can spend 10 ki points to make your attacks deal one of the types of damage you learned (no action required) until the battle is over. When you deal this damage type in this way to a creature who is vulnerable to said damage, that creature takes triple the amount of damage instead of double. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until you have finished a long rest.
