Base Class: Rogue
The chef travels the culinary road, seeking to advance their own palate and achieve culinary mastery. Whether traveling alone or with a group of adventurers, the chef seeks out local cuisines and ingredients, adding to their own repertoire. Each night they carefully craft/create/cook recipes that bolster their own and their groups' abilities for the forthcoming trials that await them.
Advancing Palate
The Chef can make investigation checks on meals that are consumed or currently prepared. If successful, the Chef adds the recipe to his/her knowledgebase and tinkers with the recipe to add their own flair (recipe effects will be Homebrewed along the campaign much like an alchemist making HB potions). For each recipe in the chef's cookbook, the investigation check is equal to the DC minus the number of recipes in the chefs cookbook. Natural 20's result in inspirations added.
Magical Bag of Culinary Equipment
This magical bag of culinary equipment, with weight of 5lbs, holds all cooking equipment necessary for a traveling chef. In this bag, comes basic spices and non-perishable ingredients in order to create masterful dishes. Utensils, dishes, pans, etc. cannot be imminently used as weapons and must be prepared in advance (i.e. expending an action to take the item out of the bag, assign it a weight value, and used in combat). Foods that can spoil, can be put in this bag to double their shelf life. At level 15, this bag preserves all perishable ingredients. The bags special mechanics can be exploited per the DMs approval.
Meal Time
The chef slowly pulls the drawstring of his magical bag of culinary equipment and flying out of it a cooking station sets up in from of him. The chef selects a recipe from his cookbook and prepares the meal in 1hr. A round of ingredients is enough to make 1 serving per party member. Natural 1's result in the food causing food poisoning for half the duration of the effect. The player only receives half of the healing and does not acquire the additional effect. Each hour the player uncontrollably vomits and looses 1 health. Players other than the chef must make investigations if they are concerned about the foods quality, or the chef can tell them. Natural 20's result in an added inspiration to the chef and efects are doubled; healing remains unchanged.
Heroes' Feast: A Cookbook
Learned recipes and flairs are added to the cookbook. Effects of said recipes are also listed in this cookbook. All meals cooked with Meal Time give 1d4+1/2 the players level in health. Recipes consumed last for the described amount of time. If the play consumes it before a short/long rest the meals effects begin upon waking up, Additional effects are determined by the chef himself. There are currently recipes by default:
Porridge: A filling dish made by simply boiling water and grain. Though one will stay full, there is hardly any flavor to speak of. You feel full and sturdy. (Duration: 10hrs Effect: +1 to AC)
Grilled Fish: A fish that's simply been grilled. It's lingering ocean smell makes it a dish best avoided by those with weak stomachs. A lighter dish you feel satiated and light on your feet. (Duration: 10hrs Effect: +1 to Dex)
Sandwich: A lunchtime classic. (Duration: 10hrs Effect: +1 to Con)
A Chef's Arsenal
The chef gains a cleaver the size of a small wrist buckler. The cleaver is dual purpose for both offensive and defensive purposes. From 3rd level, you are proficient with any improvised weapon that has a kitchen utensil theme (eg kitchen knives, wooden spoons, spatulas, rolling pins etc - use the DM's discretion here), and may apply your Dexterity modifier one additional time to any damage rolls with such weapons (including off-hand attacks).
Knife Sharpening
The chef has learned to keep his most important tools in tip-top shape. Early on the chef only knows how to re-hone and strop bladed weapons. As the chef progresses along their culinary journey, they may be able to re-edge and completely refine blades for more damage and more hits.
At level 3, gain the ability to strop bladed weapons adding +1 dmg to the weapon during the next encounter. It takes 10 minutes to perform this action per weapon.
Ramsay Style
When below 1/4 health, the chef enters a fit of determined rage. Stats are modified in the following way: STR+3, Dex+3, Wis+4, CHA-3 (NOTE: some people are weirdly into this), CON+3, INT-3. Intimidation checks are rolled with advantage. Stat values increase in magnitude by 1 every 2 levels.
