College of Poetry

Bard belonging to the College of Poetry do not just compose poetry in the traditional sense, instead each of their poems contain powerful conjurations ready to be unleashed at a moments notice. They travel around, studying magic similarly to wizards but also learning how to compose words like ancient masters before them. When they complete their poems, they also double as powerful spell scrolls, a fact that most don't realize until it is too late.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Poetry at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Arcana skill, The History skill, and another skill of your choice.

Preserving the Old Works

You have studied from the poetry of the ancient masters and know how to handle delicate works.

At 3rd level, when you use a spell scroll you may make a Arcana test vs 10+the spell scroll's level. If the test is succeeded then the spell scroll does not become inert and may be used again. This may only be done once per spell scroll.

The Collections of the Ancients

You've learned to copy the works of the old masters, bringing them to new mediums in order to better study them.

At 6th level, you can copy spell scrolls for half the normal cost, in addition, you may copy a single scroll over a long rest.

Empowered Poem

Your poems become even more potent as you learn more and more of the ancient's ways.

At 6th level, count every spell scroll you use as one level higher(in the case of cantrips, count this as being cast with a level 5 character), this does not effect the check for Preserving the Old Works.

At 10th level, count every spell scroll you use as two levels higher(in the case of cantrips, count this as being cast with a level 10 character), this does not effect the check for Preserving the Old Works

Nightly Compositions

Each night at camp you spend more and more time composing poems.

Starting at 14th level, when you finish a long rest you may choose a spell between 0 and 3rd level that has a casting time of 1 action and compose it onto a scroll for no cost. If you attempt to make a spell scroll of higher level then you must spend half the normal gold cost for such a scroll. In addition, due to the scroll being poetry more than a spell scroll, only you may use the scroll.
