Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Flowing Water are taught to control the flow of energy within themselves as if they were the bed of a mountain river. At times, they are calm, serene pictures of idyllic serenity. But they can also be savage, merciless warriors, beating down their enemies with a fury reminiscent of whitewater rapids pounding against a stalwart stone. Monks that follow the Way of Flowing Water see ki as a manifestation of their own emotional state. Their unique style of combat involves redirecting the force of their opponents' blows as they wade through the battlefield with sweeping, flowing movements.
Fist of White Water
3rd-Level Way of Flowing Water feature
Starting when you take this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to direct your ki into your blows as you attack in order to disrupt the flow of your opponents' moves. When you successfully make an Unarmed Strike against a target on your turn, you may spend 1 ki point to force that target to make a Dexterity Saving Throw. On a failure, that target is knocked prone. On a success, nothing happens.
Redirect Force
3rd-Level Way of Flowing Water feature
Starting when you take this tradition at 3rd level, when you are targeted by a melee attack and the attack misses you can, as a reaction, make an Unarmed Strike against that target. This attack is treated as an attack of opportunity.
Serenity in Stillness
6th-Level Way of Flowing Water feature
Starting at 6th level, if you take the Dodge action on your turn and you successfully hit an opportunity attack against an opponent before your next turn, that attack deals additional force damage equal to your Martial Arts die.
In addition, if you successfully make an opportunity attack against a creature after taking the Dodge action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to take an additional reaction before your next turn. You can do this once per round.
Ebb and Flow
11th-Level Way of Flowing Water feature
Starting at 11th level, you can move through the battlefield with grace and precision, carving a swathe through the battlefield like a river through a canyon. If you make an attack of opportunity, you can spend 1 ki point to move up to half of your total movement speed as part of the same reaction. This movement does not elicit opportunity attacks.
In addition, if you would be the target of a melee attack, you can choose to spend 1 ki point to add +2 to your AC for the duration of the attacker's turn. You may choose to do this after the attack is rolled, but must do so before it is determined if the attack hits or not.
Merciless Undertow
17th-Level Way of Flowing Water feature
Starting at 17th level, if you would make an Unarmed Strike against a target who is prone, those attacks deal additional force damage equal to your Martial Arts die.
In addition, if you successfully hit a target with an attack of opportunity, you can spend one ki point to force that target to make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, that target is knocked prone. On a success, nothing happens.
