Base Class: Monk
The Way of Willful Fury teaches mastery of Martial Arts through using your opponent's efforts against them. Leveraging willpower and determination to exert control on the battlefield; these monks convert incoming forces with such focused techniques, that they pulse and release with a visible eb and flow of ki energy.
Their fighting prowess and clarity increases when energized by their opponents, unwavered by distraction, allowing more of their own blows to strike and just as many of their foe’s to miss. They absorb and store damage for longer durations than ever thought possible, and when released, it is devastating.
The most practiced of these monks convert masses of energy with every incoming attack into redirected strikes, boosted by willful fury, immediately back onto the attackers giving them pause to pursue fighting further.
Bolster Spirit
Store your opponents' forces as energizing vitality.
Starting at 3rd level, immediately after you take damage from an enemy's attack, spell, or a failed dexterity saving throw caused by an enemy, you may use your Reaction to spend 1 Ki Point, to gain Temporary HP equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus. Temporary HP from Bolster Spirit is retained for 1 minute or until incapacitated.
Furious Blow
Release forceful energy in a controlled fury.
Starting at 6th level, when you hit a creature with a Monk Weapon or Unarmed Strike, spend 1 Ki Point to immediately convert Temporary HP gained from Bolster Spirit, in any amount you specify, into an equal amount of extra Force Damage for the attack, retaining any unconverted Temporary HP for the remaining 1 minute or until incapacitated. You must have Temporary HP from Bolster Spirit to use Furious Blow.
Focused Spirit
Your willpower grants longevity and clarity on the battlefield.
Starting at 11th level, retain Temporary HP from Bolster Spirit until you finish a long rest or until incapacitated. While you have Temporary HP from Bolster Spirit, gain a +1 Bonus to AC, a +1 Bonus to attack rolls made with Monk Weapons and Unarmed Strikes, and you have advantage on saving throws to resist being Charmed or Frightened.
Willful Fury
Store and redirect massive energies into a furious attack.
At 17th level, Bolster Spirit now grants Temporary HP equal to half the triggering attack's damage, or your Martial Arts die maximum + your Wisdom Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus, whichever is greater. When you use Bolster Spirit, you may also spend 2 Ki Points to make an Unarmed Strike against a creature within your reach, dealing extra Force Damage on a hit equal to your Martial Arts die maximum + your Wisdom Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus. You may also spend 1 Ki Point to make it a Furious Blow.
