Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Storm focus their Ki to unleash the fury of a Thunderstorm. Channeling the speed of lightning and the boom of thunder they can strike fear into the hearts of their foes. Monks who follow this path are less subtle then their kin and their fighting style is flashy and loud. They are capable of dealing out a decent amount of damage but their real strength lies in hampering their foes movements and striking suddenly and then getting out of range.
A Monk of the Way of the Storm might be elite troops or those hired to guard vaults of treasures or high ranking individuals as their fighting style acts a natural alarm in case of a burglar or assassin. They, like the violent storms they love, can come out of nowhere and vanish just as quickly leaving those left alive shaken and fearful.
You might see these monks wearing gaudy outfits with colors as loud as their fighting. Though a few are more like a gentle spring rain and tend to those who are injured on a field of battle granting them the strength to fight on or flee as the need may be, wearing drab colors like gray, black and dark blues.
Storm Bringer
At level 3 the Monk learns the ability to enter and exit combat quickly, striking enemies and leaving before they even know what hit them. The Monk can spend 1 Ki point to teleport in a streak of lightning in a straight line up to 30 feet to a point they can see, dealing Lightning damage equal to 1 Martial Arts Die roll to all enemies within 5 feet of them on arrival. The Monk cannot teleport though solid objects but can pass through another creatures space. If activated again before their turn is over the Monk can teleport away in a crash of Thunder that can be heard up to 200 feet away, and forcing them to make a strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If used this way the ability costs no extra Ki and the Monk returns to where they originally teleported from. The Monk can use this ability up to the number of times equal to their Proficiency Bonus per short or long rest.
If the Monk chooses to not activate this ability again before their turn is up they can store a Thunder charge for their Thunderous Strikes ability. They store 1 Thunder charge (up to 3) for each enemy they hit with lightning damage upon arrival. They may store this energy for up to 1 minute after which it harmlessly dissipates, the stored energy can be harmlessly released before the minute is up with no action required. While Thunder Charges remain the monk deals an additional 1 Lightning damage per charge with their Flurry of Blows.
Thunderous Strikes
The Monk learns to channel the power of Thunder into their unarmed attacks, dealing extra damage and having a chance to knock enemies up to 1 size larger than the monk Prone (against a Strength saving throw of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your wisdom modifier). Thunderous strikes deals 1d4 additional damage as Thunder damage to enemies you attack while you have any charges of Thunder stored from your Storm Bringer ability. The DC of the saving throw is increased by 1 for each stored thunder you have, up to 3. This does not apply to your Flurry of Blows.
Rolling Thunder
The Monks Movement speed is increased by 5 feet per Thunder charge. In addition killing an enemy or knocking them Prone replenishes the Monks full movement speed. This feature can be used once per turn.
Storm Herald
The monk starts to take on aspects of an actual storm, their eyes glow with the energy of lightning and they can can use the Sound portions of the Thaumaturgy Cantrip (Like the booming voice or sounds of distant thunder) at will. And they are resistant to Lightning and Thunder Damage.
Additionally the Monk can spend 5 Ki points to Transform into a Storm Avatar for 10 minutes. While transformed the Monk is immune to Lightning and Thunder damage, Lightning damage the Monk deals with their Flurry of Blows chains to up to 3 additional enemies within 15 feet, and the Ki Cost of their Thunderous Strikes and Storm Bringer abilities are refunded if they kill an enemy on the turn they used them. The Monk may deactivate this form at will, pausing the ability's duration, they can restart the ability at will and they can do this until the full 10 minutes of the ability has been used or until they perform a long rest. While they have the ability up but not in use they have a tiny storm cloud above their head, the appearance of which is up to the monk and it disappears once the ability's full 10 minutes are up.
Armor of Storms
The Monk may choose to spend 1-5 Ki points to Grant Temporary Hit points. Hit points are equal to 10 times the number of Ki spent. The Temporary hits points last until after the next Long Rest or until the Monk Uses this ability again. Characters with these temporary hit points will shock the enemy that depletes the last of these temporary hit points. This shock equals 1d6 Lightning Damage for each 10 Temporary hit points they gained from this ability.
Chained Lightning Strikes
The monk spends 5 Ki points, gains up to 3 charges of Thunder and transforms into pure lightning. During this time they can dash to and attack any enemy within 30 feet of themselves, up to 5 enemies can be attacked this way and enemies cannot be targeted twice in a row. The attack deals 4 rolls of the Martial arts Die in Lightning damage to each enemy. In addition, these attacks benefit from Thunderous strikes and each target must roll a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + Proficiency Modifier + Wisdom Modifier) or be knocked prone. Those who succeed at the throw take 1/2 damage and are not knocked prone. The monk may choose to dash 30 feet away from the last enemy hit at the end of the ability and the monk cannot be targeted by opportunity attacks during this ability. The monk may target allies with this ability as well but it deals no damage to the ally.
