Base Class: Bard
Note:
This subclass was specifically made for the Pantomath - Bard Reskin Class but can be used with the RAW Bard class. This class mentions features such as the Sage Advice (Bardic Inspiration) that are part of the Pantomath Intelligence based bard subclass which can be found at the Feralborn Trading social Instagram page. If playing a pantomath, you can manually adjust the flavor text on your character sheet under the features customization settings. The Subclass should overide the bards normal Charisma casting but a player will have to change their saving throws to Intelligence. I have attempted to make the features reference charges but a player may also need to reference their number of bardic inspiration dice manually since they are now based on intelligence. I apologize for the hassle, hopefully dndbeyod with support homebrew classes soon.
Deductive Defense.
By the time you reach 3rd level your experience with, and studies of, violent encounters has taught you to read your opponent and make the confrontation more like a logical puzzle. You gain the following benefits while you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a shield
-
You can use Intelligence instead of Dexterity for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes, and finesse weapons. -
You can use Intelligence instead of Dexterity when determining the bonus to your armor class and initiative. -
When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend one sage advice die to make a melee weapon attack against the creature. If you hit, you add the sage advice die to the attack’s damage roll.
Sleuth
When you join this college at 3rd level you learn specific tools of the trade which help with uncovering clues and motives.
Investigation. You can use a bonus action to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check to search for clues. Alternatively, if you use your action to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check you have advantage.
Interrogation. You learn the Detect Thoughts spell if you don’t already know it. This spell doesn’t count against the number of spells you know. You can cast this spell by expending a use of your sage advice instead of using a spell slot.
Echosight.
By the time you have reached 6th level you have learned to more fully integrate magic into your investigations. You can expend a use of your sage advice to see echoes of the past that relate to a question you have regarding an object or your immediate surroundings.
After observing the object or location for 10 minutes a spectral echo of a specific moment in time, relating to your question, begins to play out before you. This incorporeal echo overlays a 20 foot cube around the object or location and is an exact visual recreation of past events. You are free to move about the area as the event unfolds but are unable to interact with the echo. This echo lasts for 1 minute or until you remove the monocle, or leave the 20 foot cube. The DM will describe the scene in detail but the answer to your question may need to be puzzled out from the available visual clues.
For example, you could ask, “who killed this creature?”, and the vision will show the minute the incident occured but you may still not recognize the killer.
If a question can’t be directly answered with a past event, the monocle will show a cryptic or vague echo relating to the object or location.
For example, if you ask “What is the meaning of life?, the monocle may just show an echo of a loving couple or happy child that was near the object or location at some point in the past.
Infallible Detective
Beginning at 14th level, whenever you make an Investigation check, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10, and you can use your Intelligence modifier instead of Wisdom for any skill check.
In addition, you are considered to be always passively investigating even when you are engaged in another activity or moving at full speed. If your passive investigation is not sufficient to detect a clue, you still intuitively know that something is not quite right.
