Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

“Thoir orm seac, thoir orm bed.” – Kristeini Litany

You are a Cleric of the Order of the Rose, protector of the faithful Kristeini. You defend the Sanctum of the Rose, and other monasteries around the Northern Kingdoms. You use the little magic you can access to heal and support those around you. But, when the need arises, you can be a fierce fighter.

Prerequisites

The Order of the Rose only accepts faithful Kristeini adult men. Men of Ragnarian descent are preferred, but it is by no means a requirement.

A cleric must be good, preferably lawful good (though many of the Order’s greatest Clerics could be classified as chaotic good) to be able to join the Order.

Equipment

Clerics of the Rose have access to special equipment, made specifically for members of their Order.

When they first join the Order, Clerics get a Clerical Cloak, a cloak that serves as the material component of the Mantle of the Rose spell. They will also get a surcoat, which they fit over any armor they wear (unless it is dangerous to do so).

At level 6, Clerics of the Rose can get (if the Prior of their monastery allows so) a special clerical variant of a martial weapon. This weapon may be lighter, deal slightly more damage, or have other uncommon properties. For example, a Cleric could ask for a two-handed weapon that deals full damage without the need of wielding it with two hands. These special clerical weapons must be attuned. Whether a player’s weapon of choice can be granted or not will be determined by the DM.

Tenets of the Order of the Rose

The Order of the Rose was created to protect not only the Kristeini faith but the Kristeini faithful. As such, they are required to develop a love not only towards Kristeini godlore, but to any who adheres to it.

Traditionalism. Clerics ought to find the value hidden in teachings of old, not because they are old but because they are good.

Peace. Above all, Clerics strive to maintain (or, if needed, restore) the peace of the world. If absolutely necessary, they’ll use force to protect this peace.

Fallen Nature. As adherents of the Kristeini faith, Clerics recognize that humans have a fallen nature and naturally gravitate towards sin.

Intolerance to Evil. Clerics must despise evil, wherever it comes from.

Vows of Poverty. Clerics are taught to survive with the bare minimum. Not only do they not require any luxury, but they are commanded by their oath to their Order to live humbly, with only what they need to achieve the task they have been given.

Features

Fighter Cleric

Clerics of the Rose are trained in combat to effectively protect the Kristeini faith against the threats of the world.

When you first join the Order of the Rose you gain proficiency with a martial weapon of your choice, plus one skill.

Miraculous Healing

With your devotion to studying and to Kristeon, you learn how to heal those around you. Starting at level 2, you can use Channel Divinity: Miraculous Healing to heal someone.

As an action, you can use Miraculous Healing, presenting your holy symbol to restore the value of three times your class level. You can’t use this feature on an undead or a construct.

Sacrifice

As a Cleric of the Rose, it is vital that you learn to put yourself between harm and those you have vowed to protect.

Starting at level 2, you can use your Sacrifice to protect those near you at all costs.

As a reaction, if a creature that you can see with 30 feet of you is hit by an attack you can choose to put yourself in harm's way. If the attack hits you take only half the damage.  Starting at level 2, you can do this once per long rest.

From level 10 onwards you can do it twice per long rest.

Guardian of the Faithful

As you keep training and learning, your combat abilities increase.

At level 6 you get expertise with the martial weapon you chose with the Fighter Cleric feature, plus proficiency in another martial weapon of your choice.

Plus, you get a +1 AC bonus.

Strike of Kristeon

Your strength in faith translates into strength in combat.

At level 8, you gain the ability to inspire your weapon strikes with your faith in Kristeon. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d6 radiant damage to the target.

Each five levels add an extra d6, meaning you roll 2d6 at level 13 and 3d6 at level 18.

Supreme Healing

After your long time in the Order of the Rose, you’ve become a wonderful healer, capable of effectively healing many different types of wounds.

Starting at level 17, when you would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell, you instead use the highest number possible for each die. For example, instead of restoring 2d6 hit points to a creature, you restore 12.
