Dynamic Duelist

These sword saints are hard to miss. They travel the world accompanied by a levitating blade, which they consider to be more than just a piece of equipment. It takes hard work and patience to become bound to the weapons they wield; the bond they forge is inseparable. No two Duelist's blades are exactly alike, and the magic that binds them is a well kept secret. Very few Duelists have been known to let others examine their weapon’s enchantments. Attempts to steal a Duelist's sword have never worked out in the thief's favor. On the battlefield, a Dynamic Duelist coordinates with their blade to fight with deadly grace and agility.

Dynamic Blade

When you choose this archetype at the 3rd level, you summon your Dynamic Blade to your side. You have trained with this weapon all of your life, but it is also fair to say that it has trained with you for all of its life. No matter how you may lose it, you can always summon the weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand. When you hold it, it feels cool, light, and balanced in your hand. When others attempt to wield it, they are immediately wracked with unbearable, mind-numbing pain. The weapon has the following properties.

• The blade can levitate around you, while still responding to your instructions. The blade is able to move rapidly in a 15 foot radius around you, giving it an effective range of 15ft. The blade will always follow you to remain within this radius.
• You can wield the blade while it is levitating just as well as if you were holding it in one or both hands, and the blade benefits from your fighting styles.
• You can still equip a shield in your off-hand as long as you treat the blade as being wielded in one hand.
• The blade is considered a magic weapon. You always have it equipped and are permanently attuned to it. 

The blade can be any melee weapon that deals slashing or piercing damage that does not have the Reach or Thrown properties. Once you choose what kind of weapon your Dynamic blade is, the choice is final.

At the 7th level, the blade becomes a +1 weapon. It becomes +2 at the 11th level, and +3 at the 15th level.

Weightless Grace

Starting at 3rd level, you are in a semi-constant state of levitation, allowing you to move with grace even while being attacked. After a melee attack damages or misses you, you can move 5 feet without provoking an opportunity attack.

Ricochet Blade

Starting at 7th level, your Dynamic Blade can bounce from one enemy to another as it attacks. After hitting an enemy with your Dynamic Blade, your extra attack can either target an enemy within 15ft of you, or an enemy within 15ft of the creature you just hit. The blade must be able to travel in a direct, unobstructed line to its next target if the target is more than 15ft away from you.

Boundless Grace

By 10th level, your enemies have so much trouble managing both you and your blade that you can dance around the battlefield with ease. You no longer provoke opportunity attacks under any circumstances.

Blade Frenzy

By 15th level, your Dynamic Blade seems to enjoy combat even more than you do, even more so if it senses that you are in danger. Once per short rest, you can use a bonus action to rapidly attack every enemy within 15ft of you with your Dynamic Blade. Make a single attack roll and damage roll for all targets.

Lethal Duality

Starting at the 18th level, you can enter a state of mind that Dynamic Duelists refer to as “Duality.” Once per long rest, you and your Dynamic Blade can use a bonus action to enter a state of perfect harmony. For the rest of the turn, your Dynamic Blade has a range of 30ft, all attacks with your Dynamic Blade have advantage, and you get a free use of action surge for this turn only.
