Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

An Oath for the battle hardened brothers in arms who miss their fallen freinds.

A True Companion.

Begging at 3rd level, you gain access to a new bestial companion, a blessing from your god. The beast is friendly to you and your companions and obeys all your commands (it also acts on the same turn as you)
The Celestial Beast can be any beast with a challenging rating of ¼ or lower (or a black bear, which loses its claw attack profile and multiattack feature), and it gains these special features.

  • It’s Hit point maximum = (Your paladin level, plus its constitution score) times 4
  • Its proficiency bonus is equal to your proficiency bonus.
  • It loses the multiattack feature if it has it.
  • It adds its proficiency bonus to its armour class.

Your companion acts on your turn. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. You can also sacrifice one of your attacks when you take the Attack action to command the beast to take the Attack action.

If the celestial beast has died, you can expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to bring it back to life. It returns to life with all its hit points restored after 1 minute. When you finish a long rest, you can resummon a different celestial beast. The new beast appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you. You can’t have two beasts active at once (until level 20). The beast disappears if you die.

Whenever you cast a spell with a range of self or touch your celestial beast can be the source of origin for the spell as well. Additionally, if you haven’t already used divine smite in your turn, your celestial beast's attacks can be used to trigger divine smite.

This replaces your channel divinity feature.

Friendly Grace: Once you hit level 15, when you command your celestial beast to attack it can attack twice.
