Base Class: Monk
The stories told about him are as innumerable as they are fantastic. In his time, he was unquestionably the most famous Martial Artist in the known world. While he went by many names, most agree that simply calling him "the Dragon" is enough to let everyone know who is being discussed. Whether he was protecting the oppressed, avenging the innocent, or merely overwhelming his opponents in competition, his skill was unmatched. In time, he began to take on students in whatever land he found himself, starting a tradition that continues on today. While he no longer walks the mortal realm, the adherents of his teachings still strive to perfect their art hoping one day to meet -- or even exceed -- the Dragon's legend.
The Dragon's Implements
While unmatched in unarmed combat, the Dragon was also famed for his mastery of his signature weapon. Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with flails. The weapon is considered a monk weapon for you and also possesses the "light" property.
Intercepting Fist
The core of the Dragon's teachings was to use the movement of an opponent's attack against them. If a creature that is within 5 feet of you successfully hits you with a melee attack, you can spend 1 ki point to use your reaction to immediately attack that creature with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon. If this counterattack hits and does damage, the opponent's original attack is interrupted and the hit is turned into a miss.
Elemental Fist
At 11th level, you learn how to imbue your fists with power of the Dragon's elemental fury. When you make an unarmed strike during an Attack action, you can change the damage type to acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. When you change the damage type in this way, your unarmed strikes will continue to due the same kind of damage until the start of your next turn.
The Inverse Enemy Law
You learn the Dragon's legendary technique for facing hordes of enemies at once. Starting at 6th level in this class, you gain a bonus of +1 to your AC if there are 2 enemies within 5' of you during combat. The bonus to your AC increases to +2 if there are 3 or more enemies within 5' of you.
Flying Dragon Fury
At 11th level, you gain the ability to unleash an overwhelming assault that drives back your foes. Whenever you hit a creature that is the same as you or smaller with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can force that creature back a distance up to one half your movement speed. If the creature succeeds on a Strength saving throw, it can prevent being moved. If the creature is moved, you end the Flurry of Blows 5 feet from your opponent's location. This feature can only be used once per round.
Legendary Resistance
Beginning at 17th level, you learn to channel a portion of the Dragon's indomitable will in the most dire of circumstances. When you fail a saving throw, you can turn the failure into a success. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest.
