Base Class: Artificer

Specializing in wielding Telepathic Chains, Chainers are known more for their Strategics than for Brute Force

Chains

At 3rd level, You have learned to Wield a Pair of Telepathic Chains, which deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage and can be used in the following ways:

  • You can Telepathically control one or both of the Chains Without Holding them. While wielding them in this way, the Chains can be no further than 60 ft from you, and attacks made Telepathically with the Chains are considered Magical.
  • When you hit a target with a Chain, the target must make a dexterity save against your spell save DC or be grappled.
  • Attacks with the Chains can use your Intelligence Modifier, rather than your Strength or Dexterity Modifier, and you are Proficient with the Chains. When you make an attack with the Chains, or cast a spell, you can attack with your chains as a bonus action.
  • You can control the Chains Telepathically for a number of hours equal to your Proficiency Bonus × 2

Tactical Assessment

At 5th level, your Tactical Judgement has been sharpened immensely. As a bonus Action, you can make an Intelligence Check against your Spell Save DC on a creature you have encountered before to learn one of their vulnerabilities, resistances, or immunities, as well as either how much hp they have, or what their AC is. You can do this an amount of times per long rest equal to your Intelligence Modifier, and you can only use this on a creature once per long rest.

Chain Reaction

At 9th level, you've learned more about how to use your Chains. When you get hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to teleport your chains between you and the attacker, adding a +3 bonus to your AC against that attack. If the attack still hits, you cannot use your chains for 2 rounds. You can use this Reaction an amount of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per long rest.

Chain Master

At 15th Level, Your Chains gain the following Improvements:

  • Your Chain Reaction Feature also grants you 10 temporary hit points.
  • Your Chain's Damage increases to 1d8

You also can now cast the Planar Binding Spell without expending a Spell Slot. Once you do this, you cannot do it again until you complete a long rest
