Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Faunian scholars very rarely dabble in technology, they almost always stick to raw, arcane power. The crude technology that exists in the land is likely provided by arachnoid Web Weaver artificers or their apprentices. Their mastery of the webs can allow quick, swinging movement, entanglement, and surprises.

Tool Proficiency

At 3rd level, when you take this subclass, you gain proficiency in Weaver's Tools. If you already have this proficiency, you may gain proficiency in one set of artisan's tools of your choice.

Web Weaver Spell List

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Web Weaver Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Artificer Level         Spells

3rd                            Entangle, Ensnaring Strike

5th                            Spider Climb, Web

9th                            Slow, Phantom Steed

13th                          Grasping Vine (appears as a strand of webbing), Giant Insect

17th                          Enervation, Mislead

Strand Swing

Starting at 3rd Level when you take this subclass, you gain the ability to propel yourself with a tether. You can use a bonus action to attach a web strand to an object, wall, or ceiling within a number of feet equal to your intelligence score to you. While within this distance from the object, you gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed and a flying speed equal to five times your intelligence modifier. Additionally, you may take the dash action as a bonus action while within this range.

Involuntary Cocoon

At 5th level, you can use your webbing swiftly to completely neutralize a creature. When you are grappling a creature, you may use an action to force them to make a strength saving throw against your artificer spell save DC. On a success, they are freed from the grapple. On a failure, you may release your grapple as a free action and they become restrained, completely wrapped in webbing. While they are restrained in this way, it costs you no extra movement to carry the creature. The creature may remake this saving throw at the end of each of its turns. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier and regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Superior Swinger

At 9th level, you become far more than an amateur weaver. The speeds granted to you by your Strand Swinger trait are doubled, as is the range to use it. Additionally, while within the range, you can use your reaction when you are attacked to add your intelligence modifier to your AC before the attack and move up to half your walking speed afterwards without provoking an opportunity attack. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to half your intelligence modifier rounded up and regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Hunter in the Web

At 15th level, you are incredibly adept at using and maneuvering through webs and traps. You gain the following benefits

  • You are immune to the restrained condition.
  • You can move creatures restrained by your Involuntary Cocoon feature up to your movement speed as a bonus action. They must stay within your Superior Swinger range from you.
  • While using your Superior Swinger trait, you can make a weapon attack as a bonus action after casting a spell as an action.
