Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Path of Arcane Eruption is a journey of manipulating and controlling the arcane. Some event in your past or that of an ancestor left you scarred or infused with arcane magic. This magic is channeled through your emotions, the strongest of which is your rage.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, your rage begins to erupt out of you in the form of spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the sorcerer spell list.

Cantrips.

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. You learn an additional cantrip at 10th level.

Spell Slots.

The Path of Arcane Eruption Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level or higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a spell slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell burning hands and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast burning hands using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher.

You know three 1st-level sorcerer spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the abjuration and evocation spells on the sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Path of Arcane Eruption Spellcasting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of 1st-level or higher. Each of these spells must be an abjuration or evocation spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an abjuration or evocation spell, unless you're replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.

Spellcasting Ability.

Charisma is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, since your spells come from magic erupting within you. You use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

Arcane Rage

Starting at 3rd level, your rage channels your arcane prowess. While raging, you gain the following abilities.

  • You can add your Rage Damage to the damage rolls of spells that require an attack roll.
  • Your rage is maintained if a creature is dealt damage by a spell you cast.
  • You are able to concentrate on spells.
  • You have advantage on concentration checks.

When your rage ends, you immediately lose concentration.

Channeled Anger

Beginning at 6th level, when you enter a rage you can choose a damage type other than bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing.

While raging, your melee weapon attacks and melee spell attacks each deal an additional d6 damage of the chosen type. The damage die increases to a d8 at 10th level, a d10 at 14th level, and a d12 at 18th level. This damage can be dealt once per turn.

While raging, you gain resistance to the damage type chosen.

You gain proficiency in Charisma saving throws.

Chaotic Outburst

Beginning at 10th level, when you use your action to make a melee weapon attack, you can cast a cantrip as a bonus action. The cantrip must have a casting time of 1 action.

Additionally starting at 10th level, you can roll one additional damage die when determining the extra damage for a critical hit with a spell attack.
This increases to two additional dice at 13th level and three additional dice at 17th level.

Improved Arcane Rage

Starting at 14th level you gain the following abilities while raging;

  • If you would roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die from a spell, you can reroll that die. You must use the new roll.
  • You automatically succeed on concentration checks with a DC equal to or lower than your Barbarian level.
