Base Class: Monk
The cloistered scholars of the Principality of Shal study all aspects of reality, incorporating their passions into their fighting styles. Each monk studies their preferred art, honing it to perfection. The monks of the Way of Perfect Chaos have chosen to incorporate musicality into their combat, gracefully flowing across the battlefield, letting loose barrages of improvisational, arrhythmic strikes.
Some say that the masters of this art, such as the famed Thelonious, gain their power not only from their mastery of improvisation, but from the core energy of impermanence, volatility, and chaos in the universe. It is rumored that they have the ability to dip into this primordial energy without sacrificing their sanity. But, those are just rumors...
Fine Art
Your studies have turned you into a master of the arts. When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Performance skill if you don’t already have it, as well as in a musical instrument or artisan's tool of your choice.
Swing Stance
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you are able to use erratic, unpredictable movements to overcome your enemies. As a bonus action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to enter a stance that makes your movements difficult to discern. While this stance is active, you gain the following benefits:
- You can use your Wisdom modifier in place of Strength for your attacks and damage rolls made with unarmed attacks and monk weapons.
- Once per turn, when a creature hits you with a melee weapon attack, you can reduce the damage dealt by an amount equal to a roll of your martial arts die.
- Whenever you score a critical hit with a monk weapon or an unarmed attack in this stance, you deal additional damage equal to your Charisma (Performance) skill bonus.
This stance lasts for 1 minute, until you choose to end it (no action required) or you drop to 0 hit points.
Draw a Crowd
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to distract your foes with your movements, seducing them into striking. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, they must make a Wisdom saving throw equal to 8 + your Proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until the end of your next turn.
Discord Incarnate
Starting at 11th level, you become a pure incarnation of chaos and volatility. While in Swing Stance, you can use your bonus action to expend 3 ki points, entering a more volatile state. You gain the following features until the start of your next turn:
- You gain a +2 bonus to your Armor Class.
- You have advantage on any Dexterity saving throws made.
- Whenever an attack is made against you, you can immediately make an unarmed strike against your attacker, provided they are within range.
Perfect Chaos
At 17th level, you have perfected your Swing Stance, surpassing it's limitations. You gain the following features:
- When activated, your Swing Stance lasts indefinitely until you cancel it.
- Whenever you reduce a creature to 0 hit points while your Swing Stance is active, you may immediately use your reaction to expend up to 4 ki points to move up to your speed and make a number of unarmed attack equal to the ki points you spent.
