Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

You are born with a strong connection to nature and natural magic. Perhaps some ancestor was from the Feywild or you are descended from druids.

Magic of Nature

Your innate connection to Nature lets you know how to alter the nature around you.

From 1st level whenever you would gain or replace a cantrip or spell through your Sorcerer class spellcasting feature you may select your cantrips and spells from either the nomal Sorcerer spell list or the Druid spell list. Either way they are considered Sorcerer cantrips and spells to you and you use your Charisma spellcasting ability modifier.

At 1st level only you may learn an additional cantrip that must be taken from the Druid spell list. This does not count against your maximum known cantrips and will count as a sorcerer cantrip for you and you therefore use Charisma as the spellcasting ability.

Beast Form

Your connection to nature grants you the innate power to take the form of a beast. At 1st level you can transform into a small beast. You gain access to greater forms through a higher level feature.

You may cast the Polymorph spell on yourself as an action through this feature without knowing the spell or using any spell slots or material components. However, the following changes and rulings apply when cast in this way:

  • You can only transform into a Tiny beast with a challenge rating of 0.
  • The duration becomes 'Until Dispelled' and no longer requires concentration.
  • You retain your mental ability scores of Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma.
  • You can speak normally through this form as clearly as if you were speaking through your normal form.
  • You retain your class features, including spellcasting. You do not require material or somatic components for cantrips you cast in this form. For spells of 1st level or higher you must spend a Sorcery Point to cast the spell without needing somatic components otherwise if the spell requires somatic components it cannot be cast by you in this form. For spells of 1st level or higher that require material components that are not consumed or require a cost you may cast these only if you had the material components or arcane focus melded into your form with your gear - you are otherwise unable to cast spells requiring a material component.
  • You retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies, in addition to gaining those of the creature. If the creature has the same proficiency as you and the bonus in its stat block is higher than yours, use the creature’s bonus instead of yours.
  • You gain the ability to dimiss this spell as a bonus action and end the effect causing you to return to your normal form.

If the effect of Beast Form ends as a result of reverting to your normal form due to dropping to 0 HP while in a beast form then you cannot use this feature again until you complete a Short or Long Rest. If the Beast Form ends because you dismissed it, it was counterspelled or dispelled or due to similar such effects then this feature is otherwise considered at-will and can be used again freely.

Flow of Nature

The magic of nature flows through you effortlessly.

At 6th level choose a spell of 3rd level or lower from the Druid spell list. This spell does not count against your maximum known spells. In addition to casting normally you can cast it once without needing any spell slots but if you do so you cannot combine it with metamagic. Once you have cast the spell in this way, without spell slots, you cannot do so again until you complete a Long Rest but may continue to cast it normally using spell slots if you wish.

You cannot replace this spell when you level up.

Master of Forms

At 14th level you gain the ability to cast, as an action, the spells Alter Self and Polymorph using Sorcery Points even if you do not know the spells. When cast using Sorcery Points you still use Charisma as your spell ability and the spells do not require spell slots, material components or concentration. You can dismiss any active instance of these spells when cast from you through this feature and you can choose to end one spell or any amount even all with a single bonus action.

Alter Self costs 3 Sorcery Points. Polymorph costs 5 Sorcery Points.

You can only cast one such spell with a single action and when cast in this way you cannot combine them with metamagic.

Greater Beast Form

At Level 18 your power over your ability to assume the form of a beast improves.

When you use your Beast Form you can choose to instead use Greater Beast Form as an action. It works the same as Beast Form but with the following differences:

The beast you change into can be any size and have a Challenge Rating equal to or less than one third of your Sorcerer level rounded down.

The form must be one you have seen before.

Duration is 1 hour but does not require concentration.

Once this Greater Beast Form feature has been used you cannot use it again until you complete a Short or Long Rest - this does not affect your ability to use the normal Beast Form feature, however.
