Base Class: Blood Hunter
The Order of the Crimson Blade is an order that has existed since the ancient times, dedicating its existence to protecting humanity from those who go bump in the night. Members of the Crimson Blade have perfected their Crimson Rite, making it all the more deadly and versatile. Their blades thirst for vengeance and all those who appose them best turn back.
Rite of the Hunt
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Hunt esoteric rite (detailed below).
Rite of the Hunt. Your rite damage is force damage. While the rite is active, you gain the following benefits:
- Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
- Your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage when you hit an aberration, fiend, or monstrosity.
Bleeding Edge
Beginning at 3rd level, your ancient order teaches advanced breathing styles to suit your combat needs. When you activate a Crimson Rite or amplify a blood curse you now lose a number of hit points equal to half the total of one roll of your hemocraft die (rounded down). In addition, when Two-Weapon Fighting you can activate a Crimson Rite on both weapons as one bonus action.
Crimson Brace
Upon reaching 7th level, your ancient order has enhanced your perception to an extrasensory level. When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the attack’s damage against you by one roll of your hemocraft die + your Intelligence modifier + your proficiency bonus. You must have a Crimson Rite active on at least one weapon in order to use this feature.
Brand of the Opening Thread
Beginning at 11th level, your Brand of Castigation now exposes a slight pause in an enemy's movement that reveals an opening in which to strike. Whenever you damage a branded creature with your Crimson Rite, your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage. In addition, the branded creature‘s flying speed is halved if it has one.
Blood Curse of the Irresolute
At 15th level, you’ve honed your hemocraft to reveal the true intent of those you hunt. You gain the Blood Curse of the Irresolute for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.
Blood Curse of Irresolute
Prerequisite: 15th level, Order of the Crimson Blade
As a bonus action, you magnify the insecurity in the mind of a creature within 30 feet of you, making them less capable of masking their true nature. For one minute, you have advantage on all Wisdom (Insight) checks directed at the target creature.
Amplify. The target of your curse takes 3d6 psychic damage and must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, the creature can't speak a deliberate lie for one minute. You know whether the creature succeeds or fails on its saving throw.
Hungering Blade
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn how to maintain total concentration of your breathing technique. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack with an active Crimson Rite, you can heal yourself for an amount equal to the damage dealt with your Crimson Rite. If you are at your hit point maximum, you instead gain temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt with your Crimson Rite. In addition, while you have these temporary hit points, you have advantage on all attack rolls with weapons that have an active Crimson Rite.
