Monk
Base Class: Monk

Legends tell of ancient orders of monks who could channel their ki into the air around them, influencing it into bitter cold that could be forged into a solid form. Monks who devote themselves to the Way of the Frost Forger are weapons experts, as their weapons are quite literally an extension of their inner self.

Frost Weapon

Beginning at 3rd level, you gain the ability to form weapons of solid ice to augment your attacks. As a bonus action, you can manifest a weapon made of frost; this can take the form of any weapon you are proficient in. The weapon instantly melts if it is wielded by someone other than you or if you use a bonus action on a subsequent turn to create another weapon. Your Frost Weapon functions exactly like the weapon whose form it took, with the following effects:

The weapon counts as a Monk weapon for you.

The weapon deals cold damage instead of the normal damage type for the weapon. When you gain the Ki-Empowered Strikes feature at 6th level, your Frost Weapon ignores resistance to cold damage.

Ice Barrage

You have learned how to condense your ki even further to form gauntlets of ice around your hands in combat. As a bonus action, you may use 2 ki points to form the ice gauntlets, causing your unarmed strikes to deal 1d6 extra cold damage per hit. This lasts for 1 minute and then the gauntlets are either shattered or melt.

Frozen Slide

Starting at 11th level, you've unlocked techniques that allow you to make rapid escapes, or close the distance on your foes. When you use your Step of the Wind feature, you can choose to double your movement speed until the end of your turn as you manifest a sheet of ice to skate on. In addition, every space you step on during this turn becomes difficult terrain for anyone except for you, until the start of your next turn.

Sub Zero

At 17th level, you've achieved true mastery of your inner cold. You become immune to cold damage, and as part of the bonus action to summon your Frost Weapon, you gain the following benefits for one minute:

You summon an aura of frost around you, dealing 1d4 cold damage to anyone within 15 feet of your position per turn.

When you make an unarmed strike with your bonus action as part of your Martial Arts or Flurry of Blows feature, you can instead attack with your Frost Weapon.

When you make a thrown weapon attack with your Frost Weapon, you can immediately reform the blade in your hand, no action required.

Once you've used this feature, you can't do so again until you complete a short or long rest.
